ASIA JUSTICE COALITION TEAM
The Asia Justice Coalition secretariat serves as the fulcrum for the coalition - it serves to coordinate among members on aspects of the coalition’s mandate, to build capacity on international justice and accountability, and to provide strategy and policy guidance for the coordinated work of the coalition.
Priya Pillai
Executive Director, Asia Justice Coalition
Priya Pillai is an international lawyer with expertise in international justice, transitional justice, human rights, and humanitarian issues. With twenty years of legal experience, Priya has worked in international organizations such as the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) headquarters in Geneva, and with various national institutions. She is a contributing editor of the international law blog OpinioJuris.

Priya holds a PhD in international law and transitional justice from the Graduate Institute, Geneva; an LL.M from New York University; and a B.A.,LL.B. (Hons.) degree from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
Jennifer Keene-McCann
Senior Law and Policy Advisor
Jennifer Keene-McCann possesses substantial policy and legal research experience in the context of international justice, human rights, and international humanitarian law. She has served as lead researcher and author for report related to lessons learned in civilian casualty tracking in NATO operations in Afghanistan, and on conflict-affected local civil society’s interactions with international criminal justice mechanisms. Jennifer also led domestic research in Australia comparing the rights and conditions for immigration detainees to prisoners in the Australian State of Victoria. Jennifer is admitted to legal practice in the Supreme Court of the State of Victoria and the High Court of Australia and practises pro bono.
Jennifer has a JD from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School, Tufts University.
Aakash Chandran
Legal Advocacy and Communications Manager
Aakash Chandran is a lawyer and international law researcher with expertise in international humanitarian and criminal law. Previously, he was associated with various international tribunals, organisations, and NGOs including, the UN International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, Global Rights Compliance, Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization, South Asian Human Rights Documentation Centre, and the United Nations Development Programme. Aakash serves as a consulting editor of the Indian Journal of Law and Public Policy and blog editor of the Platform for Peace and Humanity.
Aakash holds an LLM degree in international law from South Asian University (SAARC), India, and a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
Emelie Templo
Program Assistant
Emelie Templo is a qualified office management professional with more than 15 years of experience as an Administrative/Executive Assistant in an Oil & Gas company based in the United Arab Emirates. She has extensive experience working with Executive team members of the organization exposed in a dynamic business environment in various capacities ranging from Operations Supervisor to Legal Assistant.
She has also led the implementation of the Salesforce.Com system for the MEA Region, a central database that captures opportunities from the earliest stage up to potential clients.
