The Asia Justice Coalition (AJC or the Coalition) is a network of organizations whose purpose is to promote justice and accountability for gross violations of international human rights law and serious violations of international humanitarian law, in Myanmar and subsequently in Asia, and to contribute to the fulfilment of the rights of victims and their families. The Coalition’s secretariat supports the Coalition’s work.
The AJC secretariat’s project entitled 'Women Leaders In International Justice & Accountability’ (WIJA) aims to develop women’s leadership in international law by building expertise and facilitating constructive dialogue around critical issues of international justice and accountability in three jurisdictions in Asia.
The Coalition secretariat seeks a Senior Project Manager to serve as maternity cover to further manage the project’s implementation. Amongst other responsibilities, the Project Manager will be responsible for:
onboarding and coordinating three Country Coordinators across the focus jurisdictions;
building a strategic plan for engagement with women-led civil society, academic institutions, and other relevant stakeholders in the focus jurisdictions;
co-designing and co-facilitating effective sessions for identifying the most efficient and effective interventions;
assisting in designing workplans and risk management for the interventions;
coordinating international stakeholder outreach;
continually liaising with stakeholders, participants, and the project team to ensure progress is being made, engaging in troubleshooting as necessary; and,
developing and finalising relevant project collateral documents related to the broader project such as op-eds, advocacy papers, legal primers, or reports.
The Senior Project Manager will report to the Director of AJC. The successful candidate will be based in Asia and will work remotely. Some regional travel will be required.
Position Expectations:
The successful candidate would be expected to commit and contribute full time for a period of 6 months. The candidate would be expected to meet (online) the supervisor(s) at least once a week and maintain continuous contact throughout the period.
Qualifications:
Graduate degree in law, international relations, with a specialization in international law, human rights or a related field.
8-10 years of demonstrated experience in international justice, women’s rights and human rights.
Prior project management experience with evidence of prior project planning and tracking, grant reporting, and coordination of a small, remote team favourable.
Strong familiarity with legal and socio-political systems in Asia, preferably the WIJA jurisdictions of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and India.
Previous experience in conducting targeted research and analysis, preparing advocacy and outreach materials, and managing social media.
Excellent written and oral communication in English.
Excellent time-management, multi-task, prioritisation, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
Strong ability to maintain confidentiality and understand the sensitivity of work of the Coalition.
